Mold Inspector Privacy Policy

Mold Inspector is provided by Blank Slate Labs LLC ("Mold Inspector," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how the Mold Inspector iOS app handles information.

Summary

Mold Inspector is designed as a local-first field documentation tool. Inspection records, room geometry, photographs, inspector profile information, client details, property details, environmental readings, moisture readings, findings, sample records, notes, and report branding are stored on the device. The app does not create a Mold Inspector account, send inspection content to our servers, include advertising, or track users across apps or websites. It uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-safe product analytics and crash diagnostics as described below.

Information handled by the app

You may choose to enter or create:

• inspector identity and business contact information, credentials, logo, and report branding;
• client name, phone number, and email address;
• property address and property details;
• inspection history, site conditions, notes, recommendations, and limitations;
• LiDAR-derived room geometry and the location and direction of evidence within a room;
• photographs captured with the camera or selected through the system photo picker;
• temperature, humidity, moisture, findings, and laboratory sample or chain-of-custody information; and
• PDF reports, located-photo exports, and restorable inspection backups generated at your request.

The app also receives App Store product and entitlement information from Apple if subscription functionality is enabled. Apple processes App Store payments under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. The app does not receive full payment-card details.

How information is used

Information is used on the device to create, edit, display, search, back up, restore, and export inspection records and professional reports. Camera and RoomPlan access is used only when you begin a scan or capture a photograph. A selected photograph is read only after you choose it through Apple’s photo picker.

We do not use inspection information, camera or depth data, photographs, or client information for advertising, marketing profiles, data mining, or sale.

Analytics and crash diagnostics

Mold Inspector uses TelemetryDeck to understand aggregate product use and reliability. Analytics may include app launches and session duration; onboarding completion; room-scan starts, outcomes, duration, and aggregate photo or voice-note counts; export type and outcome; purchase completion; app and operating-system version; device model and platform; an app-specific anonymous device identifier; and diagnostic events.

If the app terminates because of an uncaught exception or operating-system signal, it stores a small diagnostic record locally and sends it to TelemetryDeck at the next launch. That record may include the exception or signal name, reason, and a shortened stack trace.

TelemetryDeck does not receive inspection or client content, property addresses, photographs, room geometry, measurements, lab data, report contents, profile details, or free-form notes. Analytics identifiers and events are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking across apps or websites. TelemetryDeck strips IP addresses and processes analytics under its Privacy Policy.

Storage and sharing

Active inspection records and their referenced photographs are stored in the app’s local container on the device. The inspector profile is also stored locally. The app does not currently provide developer-operated cloud synchronization.

Inspection content leaves the app only when you initiate an action such as exporting a PDF, saving or sharing photographs, exporting a backup, or restoring a backup from a location you choose. Apple’s system share sheet, Files, Photos, email, messaging, cloud-storage providers, or other destinations you select may then process the exported information under their own policies. Review the destination and recipients before sharing a report or backup that contains personal or sensitive site information. Aggregate analytics and crash diagnostics are transmitted separately to TelemetryDeck as described above.

If subscription functionality is enabled, Apple processes purchases and sends signed product and entitlement status to the app. See Apple’s Privacy Policy for Apple’s practices.

Retention and deletion

Local records remain on the device until you remove them or uninstall the app, subject to device backups and iOS storage behavior. Removing an inspection takes it out of the active record list and moves its files into an OS-managed temporary recovery location; iOS may later purge temporary files. Exported PDFs, photographs, and backups remain wherever you saved or shared them until you or the recipient deletes them.

Because the app does not create a developer-operated account or upload inspection records to our servers, we generally do not hold a server-side copy of inspection content to delete. TelemetryDeck retains aggregate analytics and diagnostic data under its own retention practices. Permissions and choices

You control camera permission in iOS Settings. Mold Inspector requests camera access only for room scanning and photo capture. If you do not grant camera permission or use a device without LiDAR, you can still create areas and document evidence without scanning. Photo-library selection uses Apple’s system picker rather than requesting broad library access.

You decide what information to enter, which photographs to select, and whether and where to export records. You can withdraw a system permission in iOS Settings, although the corresponding feature will stop working.

Security

The app relies on iOS application sandboxing and device security controls. No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect the device with a passcode, keep iOS current, restrict access to exported records, and maintain backups according to your organization’s retention and confidentiality requirements.

Children

Mold Inspector is a professional field tool and is not directed to children. Do not use it to collect information from a child unless you have the authority and any consent required by applicable law.

Professional and sensitive information

Inspection records may contain client contact details, property information, images of private spaces, environmental observations, or laboratory information. You are responsible for obtaining appropriate permission to collect and share this information and for following professional, contractual, and legal confidentiality obligations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app’s practices or legal requirements change. The current version will state its effective date.
